Solo Valentine

By: Tashword

Whether you are single by choice or circumstance, or just apart from your loved one for some reason, you have the choice of how to spend Valentine’s Day; you can mope about being alone, or you can celebrate it in your own way.

Being alone and looking after yourself are not always things we aim for in modern society, but they are worthwhile pastimes and can be enjoyed!

Why not try some of the following treats this Valentine’s Day, or any other day for that matter, and see how good you can feel without a partner!

♥ Get together a group of friends and a bottle of wine to watch a favourite video/DVD or two or play a game (something like Scruples or Battle of the Sexes is good fun!)

♥ Have a long soak in a bath – add some essential oils or nice bath products, burn a candle, play some relaxing music and maybe read a book. Don’t forget to take the phone off the hook first!

♥ Give yourself a manicure or pedicure – or treat yourself to a professional one or a massage.

♥ Have a pamper night with some friends – massage each other’s feet, put on facial masques, paint nails, whatever you like.

♥ Get take away from your favourite cuisine and enjoy it! Don’t limit yourself to one dish; you can always enjoy the left overs tomorrow!

♥ Consider dinner in your favourite restaurant. It is an experience to eat alone, but if you don’t feel up to that, go with a friend, your Mum or a group.

♥ Have some take away on a beach or in a park – watch the sunset and listen to the waves lapping or the birds settling.

♥ Have an early night and curl up in bed with a favourite book.

♥ Buy yourself something you have been waiting for – jewellery, new game or software, a painting, CD, whatever.

♥ Wear something nice all day – if you can’t dress up, you can still add your favourite perfume/after shave, nice lingerie, a favourite shirt or your dress watch.

♥ Send Valentine’s cards or flowers to other single people you know to make their day a bit special, too.

♥ Treat yourself to a glass of wine, spirits or beer and some nibbles.

♥ Spend the night catching up on emails or letters you’ve meaning to write to old friends.

♥ Take yourself and/or a friend to see a movie, perhaps go to a different cinema to usual for a change.

♥ Go dancing!

♥ Cook up a spectacular meal or treat just for the fun of cooking it.

♥ Do something artistic – draw, paint, sew, woodwork, carve, scrapbook, write, whatever takes your fancy even if you don’t think you’re any good at it – just have fun trying!

♥ Give yourself a mini holiday – don’t do any housework or other dreaded chores for the day.
