My Mum always had a Present Box. I can clearly remember in Primary School coming home with a party invitation from one of my classmates and Mum reaching for the present box to make sure there was something in there I could take to the party. The present box was full of goodies – from matchbox cars to books to hair clips to writing sets to soft toys. Most of these had been bought on special or from the $2 shop, but they were treasures to me and my friends. And there weren’t only presents for kids in there either. There were tea-towels and recipe books and vases and other odds and ends that Mum & Dad could take to parties they were invited to. There were also birthday cards, engagement cards, wrapping paper, ribbon and all the other things needed to go with a present. I have now started my own Present Box. In it are things that can be used for kids parties as well as for Adults. It has saved me quite a few times, especially at Christmas when we need a Kris Kringle present! Having a Present Box is also a great way to save money! I buy gifts during the year for birthday’s and other events that are coming up, such as Christmas. You can get some great gifts on sale at odd times of the year – if you know who you need to buy for, buy a gift and put it away in your Present Box for the perfect occasion! A Present Box also saves you time, especially for those last minute invitations. You don’t have to run around looking for a present – you already have one! Your Present Box doesn’t have to be a box. I know some people who have a drawer or cupboard. No matter how your Present Box is presented – it’s a great idea.
