Get the Kids involved at Christmas

Kids love Christmas! They love the decorations, the light displays and they love receiving presents. Kids also enjoy making and giving gifts and helping out with all the festive season preparations. So this Christmas get the kids involved, things may take a little longer but it will be a lot of fun and the kids will love you for it.

Ways the kids can be involved this Christmas:

* Take them shopping and let them choose some decorations or gifts for grandparents or cousins.

* Get them to help tidy up the house and clean up their room ready for Christmas.

* Let them decorate the Christmas tree or hang decorations around the house. Get creative and make some special decorations - Click Here for some ideas.

* Do some Christmas baking. Make some special treats from our Kids Christmas Recipes, and then wrap them in cellophane to give to family and friends.

* Let them countdown the days to Christmas, you can use an Advent Calendar or cross-off or put Christmas stickers on a calendar on the fridge.

* Paint some rolls of plain paper with Christmas colours or decorate with glitter and coloured pens, use to wrap up the presents.

* Make some Christmas cards, recycle last year’s cards by cutting out the pictures and re-using with some glitter or let the kids draw their own pictures.

* Turn the Christmas tree lights, or the outdoor light display on every night at a certain time.

* Make small gifts for playgroup or school friends, a Christmas card with a candy cane or individually wrapped Christmas biscuits make great inexpensive gifts.

* Make Gifts for Careers, Teachers or special neighbours; fresh fruit baskets, homemade chocolates or a selection of biscuits are always appreciated. Let the kids help make, choose and wrap them.

* Let the kids help wrap the presents for family and friends and put them under the Christmas tree.

* Help set the table for Christmas day or other special occasions, they can fold the serviettes and place the Christmas crackers.

By letting your kids become involved in all the preparations for Christmas they will truly appreciate the spirit of Christmas and love giving gifts as well as receiving them.
