Energy Boosters For Mum

By: Busy Mother

Most mums feel tired a lot of the time. Tiredness seems to come with the job. But does it have to? Being a mum is a very busy job no matter how many children you have, or how old they are.

However, there are things we can do to reduce our tiredness levels and increase our energy levels. Here are a few ideas;

• Eat well, make sure you eat healthy meals whenever possible, and if necessary take vitamin supplements as well.
• Eat low GI foods that produce sustained energy as opposed to high GI foods which give you an immediate energy high, followed very quickly by an energy slump.
• Take time to rest where possible. Allow yourself the time to sit down for a cuppa during at sometime throughout the day, or at the very least have a few quite minutes to yourself before heading to bed at night.
• Power naps are a great way of reviving your energy levels.
• Drink lots of water to keep your system clean and working well.
• Look around your environment and find energy zappers, list them and then eliminate them one at a time. For example, little jobs that need to be done, the ones you just never get around to, can drain you of energy. Sometimes it only takes a few minutes to tackle these jobs one at a time, and each time one job is finished you will feel so much better.
• Give yourself, at least one activity that you enjoy each week so that you always have something to look forward to.
• Take time out to give the kids a hug.
• Go for a walk, a swim or some form of physical exercise, just enough so you get your body working and the adrenalin pumping.

Looking after yourself is just as important as looking after your family. A happy healthy mum with lots of energy to run around is what most kids want.
