If your kids are anything like mine, they will be fascinated with your filing cabinet. After a few easy changes, you can have a child friendly filing cabinet! To start with, get some locks for your filing cabinet. If your filing cabinet doesn't lock, get some child proof locks, available from baby goods stores. This will keep little fingers out of your files and keep your files where they should be. Next, put some magnets on your filing cabinet. There are a number of different magnets you can use, including letters and numbers, and dress up magnets. The type of magnets you get will depend on the ages of your children. Get magnets your children can play with, and let them know they can play with magnets on your filing cabinet. I also have a couple of magnetic frames with photos of the kids on my filing cabinet. Both my sons love rearranging them! I also change the magnets regularly. I have a bowl on top of the filing cabinet with different magnets in it. Rotating the magnets means that the children don't get bored with them. Having my filing cabinet available for the children to play with, and having it locked mean they are able to play in my office with me, and it is a special place in my office just for them.
