Admittedly cleaning is not my favourite pastime and anyone who knows me will not be surprised at all by this statement. But I am also aware that if I actually leave it "long enough" - no-one else will do it for me! So for this reason alone I am a consumer and user of cleaning products. As a mother I am concerned about having products which may be hazardous for my child so choosing a more natural way of cleaning is very important to me. Despite the heightened awareness of the damage to our environment, cleaning products sold in the supermarket are still damaging to the eco-system, not to mention very costly. Many people are now electing to make their own cleaning products using ingredients usually found in the home as a cost effective way to clean the house. Others are purchasing the ingredients specifically to make their own cleaning products as an environmentally friendly way to get the job done. There are no harmful smells or toxins left by the home-made products and opting to clean "green" is a growing trend among housecleaners. When setting down the path of the DIY cleaner, make sure you are prepared for the task. You will need a range of bottles to store the recipes you make as well as clear labels so as not to confuse your products. Common ingredients found in natural cleaning products include baking soda, vinegar, lanolin, castile soap, cream of tartar and essential oils.
